I have never taken a quiz like this in my life. I was intrigued when Mrs. Vallier told us about this quiz. I am so glad I did the quiz because it really opened up my eyes to several different things. I was really interested in knowing how much energy I waste on an everyday basis. I took the more detailed quiz because I really wanted to have detailed answers. I was a bit shocked with my results to be honest. Some results in a good way and some in a bad way. I would need about 4 Earth’s to support my lifestyle and my activities. I also found out that it would take about 18 global acres to support my activities as well. I am so thankful for my Ecological Footprint. The Ecological Footprint measures the demands by humans on the ecosystem here on Earth. It represents the amount of sea area and land needed to supply resources for our population. Not only does it give you several different results to your answers, but it also shows you where you can improve on. I expected that the majority of my ecological footprint would be based off of services. I guess I kind of take what I have for granted. I am so reliant on services and technology such as cell phones and laptops that I probably wouldn’t know how to function without them. I also do not eat the healthiest foods in the world because some of the foods I eat are processed foods. I really didn’t look at the big picture. I waste bundles of amounts of energy with the lifestyle that I have and not eating the healthiest foods is not good for my health. So, I need to make a few changes. From here on out, I plan to shut off the lights once I leave the room. I also plan to shut the television off when I am not watching it as well as watching what I eat a bit better.
